Keanu Reeves goes to extreme measures in his next film 'Replicas'
Keanu Reeves made waves at the Toronto International Film Festival (TIFF) with his upcoming sci-fi thriller Replicas.
At a CAA buyer screening, Byron Allen's Entertainment Studios shelled out $4 million for the North American rights to Keanu Reeves latest film Replicas. With just four films to their name, including 47 Metres Down and the upcoming horror Friend Request, Entertainment Studios looks to expand their portfolio with Replicas and Rob Cohen's disaster-thriller The Hurricane Heist.
In Replicas, Reeves stars as neuroscientist William Foster who uses a cloning technology that recreates the brain as a cure for Alzheimers to resurrect his family after they are killed in a car accident. While the plot seems somewhat of a stretch, it's hard to shy away from the real life personal narrative Mr. Reeves faced back in 1999 with the loss of his stillborn daughter and then his girlfriend (and mother of child) in a car accident months later.
Replicas next stop will be New York Comic-Con on October 5, where clips of the film will be shown, followed by a live panel including the cast and director Jeffrey Nachmanoff and producer Stephen Hamel. The film co-stars Alice Eve (Before We Go) as Reeves' wife, along with Silicon Valley's Thomas Middleditch.
