'Kubo and the Two Strings' Director Moves onto 'Transformers: Bumblebee'
The Transformers spinoff set to focus in on Bumblebee has reportedly found its director, hiring Kubo and the Two Strings' Travis Knight to helm the first film in the franchise not to stick to something of a linear order.
Knight will make his live-action debut with the film. Kubo and the Two Strings was his feature film debut and, while it didn't make a whole lot of money, that one was critically adored. It scored a Best Animated Film Oscar nomination, losing to Zootopia.
It will mark the first time a Transformers film isn't helmed by Michael Bay, so there's something interesting here. It will be worth keeping an eye on. The screenplay was written by Christian Hodson, though little is known about the film other than its rumoured lower budget and potentially taking place decades before the events of the first Transformers film.
The film is set to release on June 8, 2018.
