Liam Neeson cast as Deep Throat in 'Felt'
In the 1976 movie All the President’s Men there were some memorable scenes of Bob Woodward speaking to a shadowy figure in an empty parking garage. The figure, known as Deep Throat, gave the Washington Post journalist and his partner Carl Bernstein information regarding the cover-up of the Watergate scandal which eventually caused the resignation of President Nixon in 1974. Deep Throat’s real identity remained a secret until 2005, when 95-yr old Mark Felt publicly revealed that he is the whistleblower.
Four decades after the scandal, a new movie ,Felt, will focus on Mark Felt who will be portrayed by actor Liam Neeson. According to Collider, Mark Felt, who was an associate director of the FBI at the time, is someone who was “disheartened that the organization he works for is involved in cover-up but also who is torn apart as he leaks information.”
Felt will be directed by Peter Landesman, who also directed the Kennedy assassination film Parkland and the upcoming film Concussion with Will Smith. Other cast have not been been announced, though filming will begin in March 2016.
