Lionsgate finds its Writer for 'The Kingkiller Chronicle' Adaptation
One of the writers involved in Transformers 5 has been tapped to adapt the first book of Patrick Rothfuss' bestselling fantasy trilogy The Kingkiller Chronicle.
Lionsgate has picked Lindsey Beer to take on scripting duties for the project, which is being produced by Robert Lawrence, who is also behind the upcoming Brie Larson drama The Last Castle.
The series chronicles the life and times of Kvothe, a magically gifted young man who becomes the most notorious wizard of all time (not Voldemort). Two books and three novellas have sold more than 10 million copies since 2007.
Beer is a writer on the rise with a focus on geek-oriented material, and a rare female representative in a male-dominant profession. She has written drafts for Pacific Rim 2 on top of her Transformers gig.
She is currently writing Sony's Barbie movie, and Paramount is moving forward with her re-imagining of The Little Princess, the acclaimed children's novel, to be produced by Platinum Dunes.
