Lionsgate Seeking New Ways to Expand Their 'Hunger Games' Franchise
Is there any doubt that Lionsgate was going to seek out new ways to tell stories in the world of The Hunger Games. In fact, they probably don't even have to be new.
The studio, while comfortable with other ventures, has popularised itself with young adult franchises like this one and Twilight, and CEO John Feltheimer has gone on the record to confirm life after Katniss Everdeen.
“I would say that there’s no big franchise that any studio has that they’re not trying to look at prequels, sequels, spinoffs, some version of that. We think that there’s a great piece of IP with Hunger Games. It’s a great world.”
The franchise fizzled out toward the end, but still made a substantial amount of money with its final two installments.
