'Logan' Director on Why the Film isn't a CGI Destruction Picture
Director James Mangold is clearly going for something very different with Logan, the final Wolverine film to star Hugh Jackman, and, speaking too soon maybe, it has all the potential of breaking the mold and becoming one of the best superhero films of the era.
Mangold has made it clear, through that trailer and interviews, that he doesn't want any part in a CGI-heavy, "hyper choreographed, gravity defying, city-block destroying CG f*ckathon," outlined when a page of the screenplay reached the internet earlier in the year.
Elaborating on that now, he said "the goal was to make something human. We made an effort to scale back on the gloss and greenscreen." Hugh Jackman had his own say. "It’s essential you see this as the story of a man who is struggling with mortality and legacy and whether the world has been better off with him or without him.”
