Margot Robbie Gives Insight on Harley Quinn in 'Suicide Squad'
With Suicide Squad edging closer and closer, and assured to pick up even more steam once Batman v Superman comes and goes, Cineplex has included a brief description of Margot Robbie's character, as offered by the actress herself.
"Harley is creepy, violent, crazy - all of the things that I aspire to be! No. It's the fun of living vicariously through someone who is doing thing that I would never do in real life."
Clearly, she's embracing and enjoying the role. Morality and personality seem to be central to the film that director David Ayer is creating, which if approached in a psychological way could make for one of the most unique films in recent memory, and particularly in the superhero genre (which is becoming a broader and broader one every year).
Robbie also discussed co-star Will Smith, who she pressured into taking the role because of how much she enjoyed working with him on Focus.
"I enjoyed working with Will so much that I was overjoyed when I heard that we would be working together again. I actually texted him when I heard he was in negotiations to be in Suicide Squad and kept peer-pressuring him, 'you'd better be taking this movie!'
"He obviously signed on for his own reasons, but I was incredibly happy that we got to do Round Two. He's awesome on set and awesome off set. He's just a really, really good person."
Suicide Squad opens on August 5.
