Marvel Studios Is Not Looking To Reboot 'Blade' Or At Least For Now
Recently rumors have been running wild about a potential crossover between Marvel character Blade on Underworld (Horror film series). It was confirmed that the producers of Underworld did indeed reach out to Marvel Studios. The answer they got back made it seem like Blade had his own project in the works.
While sitting down for an interview with The Playlist, Marvel President Kevin Feige confirmed the talks with the Underworld producers and shot down the Blade reboot. Here's what he had to say.
"They did ask a long time ago and I think our answer was, ‘No, we’ll do something with Blade at some point.’ That’s still the answer. We still think he’s a great character. He’s a really fun character. We think this movie going into a different side of the universe would have the potential to have him pop up, but between the movies, the Netflix shows, the ABC shows there are so many opportunities for the character to pop up as you’re now seeing with Ghost Rider on Agents Of S.H.I.E.L.D. that rather than team up with another studio on that character let’s do something on our own. What that is? Where that will be? We’ll see. There is nothing imminent to my knowledge.”
So Marvel currently doesn't have any plans for a Blade reboot. Although it seems like Feige is interested in the potential down the line. So for now we will just have to sit back and enjoy.
Wesley Snipes who played Blade has publicly stated he would love to return to the role. We could potential see a cameo in the Netflix series or in one of the upcoming MCU films.
