Matt Damon on Bourne 5
The last time Matt Damon appeared as Jason Bourne was in The Bourne Ultimatum (2007) and fans are pleased to hear that he will now return for the 5th instalment of the franchise. While promoting his latest movie, The Martian, Damon gave hints about the upcoming Bourne 5 to the NY Daily News.
“[Jason Bourne] has his memory back, but that doesn’t mean he knows everything. It’s 12 years since Jason Bourne has been on the grid. So we have to answer the questions, Where’s he been? What’s he doing? What gets him going again? So once we solved all that, then we had a movie.”
He also told old the NY Daily News that this Bourne sequel will move the franchise into a ‘post-Snowden world’, a world where confidential government secrets are leaked into the public.
Damon, an Oscar winning screenwriter, is involved with the Bourne 5 script along with Paul Greengrass (who will also direct). Julia Stiles will reprise her role as Nicky Parson from the first trilogy. Other cast for this movie includes Tommy Lee Jones as a seasoned CIA agent, Vincent Cassel as an assassin recruited to hunt down Bourne, and Alicia Vikander in a yet-to-be identified role. Jeremy Renner, who was the protagonist Aaron Cross in the 4th instalment, Bourne: Legacy, will not appear here, but may one day have his sequel.
Bourne 5 opens in U.S. theaters on July 29th, 2016.
