Melissa McCarthy Has Some Choice Words for 'Ghostbusters' Haters
Paul Feig's Ghostbusters reboot has been the target of plenty of unwarranted hatred ever since its announcement. The criticisms arose initially from the announcement it would be a reboot and not a sequel, before escalating with the reveal that it would be an all-female cast.
Which sounds ridiculous to me, but nevermind. Melissa McCarthy has seemingly had enough of the backlash before the film has even seen the light of day, and has spoken out against comments of ruined childhoods and other petty complaints toward the film.
“All those comments – ‘You’re ruining my childhood!’ I mean, really,” McCarthy said. “Four women doing any movie on earth will destroy your childhood?” She told The Guardian. “I have a visual of those people not having a [my husband] Ben, not having friends, so they’re just sitting there and spewing hate into this fake world of the internet. I just hope they find a friend.”
The film opens July 22.
