Michael Giacchino Set To Score Rogue One.
Award winning composer Michael Giacchino has landed on Disney's and Lucasfilm's upcoming film Rogue One: A Star Wars Story. According to THR, he will be replacing the previously announced composer Alexandre Desplat (Grand Budapest Hotel, Immitation Game). Desplat is stepping down from the project due to scheduling difficulties.
Rogue One recently had to do some reshoots which lasted several weeks. This may have shifted the timetable for the film scoring and conflicted with Desplat’s schedule.
Michael Giacchino, who is a fan of Star Wars, is, of course, no stranger to Disney. He recently composed Disney's Zootopia and won an Academy Award for his work on Up. Giacchino also scored all three of J.J. Abram's Star Trek as well as the upcoming Doctor Strange.
Rogue One: A Star Wars Story is scheduled to premiere in December 2016
