Michael Lombardo Departs Role as HBO Programming President
Michael Lombardo is exiting the role of HBO Programming president after 33 years involved at the TV giant, playing a pivotal role in the golden age of television at the company.
While HBO's slate of drama series has been under heavy scrutiny of late, something the company isn't too accustomed to, sources say that Lombardo's departure is of his own choosing, and will work out a production pact with the network.
Lombardo oversees programming for HBO and Cinemax as well as HBO Films, HBO Sports and HBO Documentaries and Family. So, suffice it to say, HBO might have a bit of work to do filling the hole that's being left behind.
Lombardo has over his time spearheaded the team that brought in so many iconic series, from Game of Thrones to True Detective, and everything in between.
