'Midnight Special' Director to Remake 'Alien Nation'
1988's Alien Nation is looking at getting remade, courtesy of 20th Century Fox, with Jeff Nichols in talks to direct.
The film and subsequent one-season series has developed a cult following, as the series has lived on through novels and comics. Nichols, meanwhile, has made a name for himself with Midnight Special, and his festival-debuting Loving, which is getting strong reviews.
There's no doubt in the director's talent, with smaller, character-focused dramas Take Shelter and Mud proving that the director cares about his content. We can be sure that frequent collaborator Michael Shannon will play a role, should Nichols take the job.
