'Moonlight' and 'Arrival' Big Winners at the WGA Awards
With the Oscars under a week away, the Writers Guild of America completed the road to the Academy Awards with its own show over the weekend to celebrate the best writing for film and television of 2016. With La La Land, Moonlight, and Manchester by the Sea all deemed eligible this year, it's an interesting new insight into what may go down next week.
Barry Jenkins' Moonlight won the Best Original Screenplay award, while Best Adapted Screenplay wet to Eric Heisserer for Arrival. The two films are, funnily enough, competing in the Best Adapted Screenplay category at the Oscars, so Best Original is between La La Land and Manchester, presumably.
Command and Control won the Documentary Screenplay award while in television, Atlanta won for Best Comedy Series and Best New Series. The Americans won Best Drama Series. For the full list, follow the link: http://collider.com/wga-awards-winners-2017/
