Neil Blomkamp in Talks to Direct Sci-fi Adaptation The Gone World

HaydnSpurrell HaydnSpurrell With his Alien sequel on hold, director Neil Blomkamp is now in talks with 20th Century Fox to direct The Gone World.

The sci-fi tale is a yet to be released novel from Thomas Sweterlitsch, who wrote Tomorrow and Tomorrow. Blomkamp is the man lined up to both write and direct the film.

The forthcoming book is described as a "sci-fi time travel procedural" but little more than that is known. TriStar have acquired the rights the Sweterlitsch's debut novel mentioned above, but nothing as yet has been done with the property.

Having scripted both Elysium and Chappie, fans may be a little hesitant toward Blomkamp's writing chops due to both films failing to win audiences. Many Alien fans were concerned when the talented director voiced interest in scripting his Alien sequel earlier in the year.

The Gone World has no release date, for the book or film, at this stage.
