Netflix Confirms 'The Punisher' Spin-Off with Jon Bernthal reprising his role
While we're a couple of days late, suffice it to say fans will be ecstatic that Netflix has officially confirmed The Punisher is on the way, following the character's critically acclaimed arrival in Daredevil Season 2.
Jon Bernthal will reprise the lead role of Frank Castle for a full season order that guarantees to be filled with darkness and violence.
This brings the Marvel-Netflix relationship to six official series, which is two more than originally intended, such is the success of the venture. Netflix continues to give fans what they want, it seems, and they've reaped the rewards for their efforts.
The service must be commended for taking the bold risk of adapting these Marvel properties into a grittier, darker style to what fans are primarily accustomed to. While the film universe can be dark at times, Daredevil and Jessica Jones have focused heavily on offering a whole new angle on the Marvel world.
