Netflix 'Lost in Space' Casts Ignacio Serricchio as Don West
Netflix is bringing Lost in Space back for a contemporary audience, and with the reboot coming no sooner than 2018, Ignacio Serricchio has joined the cast as Don West.
Mark Goddard played the character in the 60s television series and Matt LeBlanc in the 1998 film. In the new series, the character won't be a military pilot, the square-jawed hero that took a backseat in the original series.
He's described as “a roughneck smuggling luxury goods on the side who finds in the Robinsons the family he never thought he would find." It seems the new series will be taking some liberties with the story that's already been told, which is a good thing.
Zack Estrin is showrunner on the series, and Neil Marshall will direct and produce a number of episodes, of which there will be ten in the first season.
