Netflix May Be Delivering 'The Punisher' for 2017
Speculation is circling that Daredevil spin-off The Punisher, to star Jon Bernthal as the titular anti-hero, may be on its way to the streaming service in 2017.
With Iron Fist and The Defenders set for 2017 debuts, it seemed that Punisher would be some time away. At the same time that these were scheduled in July, Netflix Chief Content Officer Ted Sarandos said that Jessica Jones Season 2, Punisher, and Daredevil Season 3 would not arrive until 2018 at the earliest.
A landing page has been found in the Netflix mobile app, with a title and basic logline that reads: "After the murder of his family, Frank Castle is both haunted and hunted. In the criminal underworld, he'll become known as The Punisher."
Netflix has historically only posted these landing pages in the 12 months prior to a show launching, roughly, leading to plenty of excited fans looking to 2017 for the series.
This may not turn out to be anything, and is far from a confirmation. We'll hopefully find out shortly, given the word of mouth that may just start swirling following this discovery. Luke Cage is next for Marvel and Netflix, hailing on September 30.
