Netflix to Distribute 'Green Room' Director's Next Thriller, 'Hold the Dark'

HaydnSpurrell HaydnSpurrell Netflix has acquired distribution rights to Hold the Dark, a thriller set in Alaska being directed by Jeremy Saulnier, the man behind 2016's Green Room. The project was first unveiled in 2015, and filming will begin on February 27 in Alberta, Canada.

Saulnier directs from a script written by Macon Blair. It's being produced by Eva Maria Daniels of VisionChaos Productions and Russell Ackerman and John Schoenfelder of Addictive Pictures. There are as yet no actors attached.

The story is based off of William Giraldi's 2014 novel, which follows a young boy in a remote Alaskan village being killed by a rogue wolf. A wildlife naturalist comes in to assess the situation andbecomes involved in a dangerous triangle with the boy's grieving mother and unstable father.
