New Algorithm Reveals Batman v Superman Profit-Making Potential, and it's a Little Concerning

HaydnSpurrell HaydnSpurrell Rumours have been creeping out that there's some concern behind closed doors at Warner, though various sources claim different causes for that concern (some claiming the film isn't as good as the studio had hoped, while others claim it's great, but perhaps not what the audience has become accustomed to).

The question of whether or not the hype behind the movie will transition into a profit come late March has been answered to keep as satisfied at least in the short term, until we actually get some real data. According the CBR, a group of computer scientists have implemented an algorithm to determine the likelihood of the film turning a profit.

And the estimate claims that Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice has a 32% chance of garnering at least a $7.2 million profit (a number a studio exec may 'reasonably expect' to see returned on an investment.)

The algorithm is based off of data from 2,506 films that came out between 2000 and 2010, factoring in various key facts such as budget, cast, director and release date.

For now, we can certainly hope that the film is a success, if only for the betterment of quality storytelling. Hopefully, those concerns at Warner are for no reason come March 25.
