New Faces Joining 3rd Season of Penny Dreadful
Penny Dreadful, the gothic horror series by Showtime, has been busy adding more cast to its third season, and is expanding its story to include another Victorian-era horror icon: Dr. Jekyll.
Showtime recently announced that Brian Cox, who will portray Ethan Chandler's father Jared Talbot will guest star, appearing in at least 2 episodes. According to Entertainment Weekly, Talbot is described as a "powerful rancher.. who has long been on the hunt for his son. Talbot will stop at nothing to bring Ethan back west to settle the score."
Also joining the cast is Patti LuPone, who last season guest starred as the Cut Wife. This season she will return as a series regular, but in a different role. The Tony-Award winning actress will play Dr. Seward, a therapist who treats Vanessa Ives.
Other cast includes Shazad Latif as Dr. Jekyl, Wes Studi as a mysterious ally to Sir Malcolm and Perdita Weeks as Catriona Hartdegan.
When last seen, the group of supernatural fighters were dispersed into different parts of the world. It is not clear whether the third season will have separate stories in separate locations or if they eventually will converge again. The show is currently filming in Dublin and will premiere in 2016.
