New 'Hellboy' poster is "Legendary AF"
EW released Lionsgate's official poster ahead of Saturday's New York Comic Con panel
EW's release comes nearly a year since we saw our first glimpse of David Harbour in full make up as the Bureau for Paranormal Research and Defense's (BPRD) half-demon superhero, Hellboy.
Harbour will be joined by Milla Jovovich as the villainous Nimue, Queen of Blood. Ian McShane will play Hellboy’s adopted father and founder of BPRD; Daniel Dae Kim will play a badass military agent, jaguar-human Ben Daimio (Thank you Ed Skrein!); and Sasha Lane (American Honey) will play Alice Monaghan, a magical figure who was rescued by Hellboy as an infant.
Though plot details have not been revealed, we do know David Harbour’s reboot will not be connected to Guillermo del Toro's 2004 and 2008 adaptations starring Ron Perlman. Despite the usual dose of reboot skepticism, it's worth noting Lionsgate's reboot was written by the creator of the Hellboy universe Mike Mignola. Mignola has gone on the record saying his script will be a faithful adaptation of the three story miniseries told in Darkness Calls, The Wild Hunt, and The Storm and the Fury.
Hellboy is set to hit theaters in April 12, 2019 and is directed by the man behind 2005's claustrophobic horror The Descent and Game of Thrones episodes “Blackwater” and “The Watchers on the Wall", Neil Marshall.
