New 'Terminator' Movie in Development from James Cameron and 'Deadpool' Director Tim Miller
Terminator: Genisys for many spelt the final and inevitable end for the franchise, bringing it to a brutal halt after years of trying to rekindle the fire that James Cameron lit in the first two films. Nevertheless, it looks like it won't be dying just yet. It just needed its creator back on-board.
Terminator 6 is in development, and James Cameron is set to return and oversee the sequel, which is sure to spike interest among the fans of the franchise. Not only that, but Deadpool director Tim Miller is Cameron's number one pick to helm the project.
Deadline reports that the rights to the franchise will be returning to Cameron in 2019, and he will utilise that opportunity to get his hands in on the action. While he won't be directing (he still has a little franchise called Avatar that might have slipped all of our minds), it's likely as producer. What the film might eventuate into isn't clear. It could reboot the franchise, cancel out the films that followed Judgment Day, or, god forbid, directly follow Genisys.
