‘Transformers' reboot in the works with 'John Wick 3' and 'Zodiac' writers
Paramount and Hasbro were true to their word.
After twelve years, five mediocre Michael Bay films, one wondrous Travis Knight spin-off and $4.8 BILLION dollars in the bank, it finally appears Paramount is ready to give Transformers a complete makeover.
The extent of the makeover is still a complete mystery however sources say writers Joby Harold (co-writer on Zack Snyder’s Army of the Dead and John Wick 3) and James Vanderbilt (writer on David Fincher’s Zodiac) have been given the keys to “build-out multiple [Transformers] storylines” as well as a chance to “expand the Transformers universe."
News of Paramount's reboot shouldn’t come as a total shock. It was just two years ago when Hasbro CEO Brian Goldner announced that the current Transformers live-action series would officially reset after Travis Knight’s Bumblebee: The Movie release. The move would position Transformers to fall under a joint collaboration between Paramount and Hasbro in order to spawn a 'Hasbro Cinematic Universe.' You didn't forget about Snake Eyes, Micronauts, and Dungeons and Dragons did you?
Unfortunately, news of Transformers reboot likely signals the end of the line for Travis Knight, Christina Hodson, and any talk of Bumblebee's existence heading into 2020 and beyond. On the flip side, let’s not forget that Michael Bay and co. had fourteen Transformers stories in the hopper. FOURTEEN
