New TV spot for 'The Revenant' Released
The first television trailer for 'The Revenant' has hit our screens and has sent the pulses of cinephiles the world over racing.
'The Revenant' is the latest project from Mexican director Alejandro Gonzalez Inarritu (Birdman) and stars Leonardo DiCaprio, Tom Hardy, Domhall Gleeson, Will Poulter and Luke Haas. It tells the story (inspired by true events) of Hugh Glass, an American fur trapper and frontiersman who is left for dead by hunters from his team after he is attacked by a grizzly bear. Based on the book The Revenant: A Novel of Revenge by Michael Punke, it is widely anticipated, considered to be one of the most exciting films of the year and is already generating Oscar buzz ahead of the awards ceremony in 2016.
There is little dialogue spoken in the trailer - DiCaprio's opening line of "I'm not afraid to die anymore, I've done it already," aside - with the focus firmly placed on the imagery. The world of the Revenant appears brutal and unforgiving, apt for a film billed as a revenge Western.
The Revenant will receive a limited release in America on Christmas Day before receiving a wide release on the 8th of January, 2016.
