Spike Lee's OldBoy only hit theatres last year, but it is already considered his worst movie to date. The problem with Lee's OldBoy is it's not actually that bad. It's poor compared to his previous efforts like Do The Right Thing, Malcolm X and 25th Hour. The problem this version of OldBoy has is that it was struck by the Hollywood studio system syndrome. It's a foreign language film that was remade to cash in when it never needed it. It's hard to gets fans on board when they love the original Korean movie so much— it was simply a lame duck and unfortunately Lee was at the sharp end.
