‘Top Gun: Maverick’ will hit theaters on June 24
Tom Cruise's long-awaited sequel will hit theaters two days earlier than anticipated!
Deadline confirmed that Paramount and Skydance have bumped up the release of TOP GUN: MAVERICK to Wednesday, June 24 instead of Friday, June 26. Which likely means, public screenings will begin the evening of Tuesday, June 23.
Call it simple dollars and sense but MAVERICK's shift paves the way for ten full days of domination until Illumination’s The Rise of Gru hits theaters July 4th followed by Ghostbusters: Afterlife on July 10.
Tony Scott's high-octane original recipe raked in a cool $8,193,052 (not adjusted for inflation) during its pre-Memorial Day opening weekend. Six weeks later, Top Gun earned more than enough to become 1986's highest-grossing film hauling $353,811,728, which adjusted for inflation would be hovering near $823,812,500 today.
If I'm a betting man, I'm going with the over come June 24.
