Peter Capaldi Departing 'Doctor Who' After the Upcoming Season
Doctor Who himself Peter Capaldi is departing BBC's sci-fi series Doctor Who. The news broke via a Tweet from the show's official page, which read, “BREAKING NEWS! ‘It (the new series of Doctor Who) will be my last… I feel it’s time to move on.’ – Peter Capaldi”
Capaldi has been with the show since 2014, where he joined the show in its eighth season. The upcoming tenth season will premiere in the U.K. in April, and will be a bittersweet run of episodes as fans farewell the latest doctor. The season will air in the U.S. in the spring on BBC America.
It marks the exit of the fourth doctor since BBC relaunched the series in 2005. He follows Christopher Eccleston, David Tennant, and Matt Smith. He joins the outgoing showrunner Steven Moffat, who will be replaced by Chris Chibnall.
