'Pete's Dragon''s young star Oakes Fegley Cast to Lead Todd Haynes' 'Wonderstruck'
Disney's upcoming Pete's Dragon remake is set to introduce us to young actor Oakes Fegley, and he's now been cast in the co-lead role for Todd Haynes' upcoming drama Wonderstruck.
Coming from Amazon Studios, the film is based on Brian Selznick's novel and details the dual narratives of two deaf children; Rose in 1927 New Jersey, and Ben in 1977 Minnesota. Fegley will play Ben, opposite Millicent Simmonds as Rose. Cory Michael Smith has been cast as Rose's older brother.
The film is reportedly set to divide its time between sound and silence, with Haynes committed to homaging cinema of old by offering Rose's storyline in complete quiet in order to capture the deaf character's world view.Ben, on the other hand, is deaf in one ear.
