Production Kicks off on Alicia Vikander's 'Tomb Raider'
Director Roar Uthaugh has confirmed via Instagram that the new Tomb Raider film has begun production. Academy Award winner Alicia Vikander plays the title character of Lara Croft for the latest video game adaptation.
Walton Goggins plays the villain for the series while Into the Badlands star Daniel Wu will play a ship captain assisting Lara and her father. Geneva Robertson-Dworet (Transformers: The Last Knight) has penned the script.
Two films were made by Paramount Pictures on the property, which starred Angeline Jolie. The new film is slated for March 16, 2018.
