Rachel McAdams and Mads Mikkelsen Roles Teased for Doctor Strange
There's been some secrecy surrounding the roles of various named actors throughout the marketing campaign for Doctor Strange. And while it's still over ten months from release, plenty of news has surfaced courtesy of EW.
Details have been offered regarding Mikkelsen and McAdams roles in the upcoming film. Executive producer Stephen Broussard confirmed that Mikkelsen is playing the film's "main villain" (as rumoured for some time). Many films will jump to the conclusion that he will be playing Dormammu, who has dark magical powers to match Doctor Strange's own talents.
Marvel president of production Kevin Feige described the character's role as "a sorcerer who breaks off into his own sect. [He] believes that the Ancient One is just protecting her own power base and that the world may be better off if we were to allow some of these other things through."
Regarding McAdams' role, Feige said this: "Rachel McAdams plays a fellow surgeon that has a history with Strange and is his sort of lynchpin to his old life, once he steps into the role of a sorcerer. She is someone he connects with at the beginning, and reconnects with, and helps anchor his humanity."
Doctor Strange arrives November 4, 2016.
