Rene Balcer To Showrun "Law & Order" Anthology Series
Rene Balcer will write, executive produce and act as showrunner for Law & Order: True Crime - The Menendez Murders. Balcer was an executive producer and showrunner on Law & Order and developed the spinoff series Law & Order: Criminal Intent; which he executive produced and show-ran for 10 seasons.
Dick Wolf will serve as executive producer on the eight-episode crime drama. Wolf stated that "Rene and I have been working together over the past three decades and he is one of a handful of truly great showrunners with whom I’ve worked. Law & Order won the Emmy for Outstanding Drama Series under his watch.”
The Menendez Murders will focus on Lyle and Erik Menendez's murder trials. The two brothers murdered their parents in 1989 and went through two hung juries before going to trial separately and being convicted of the murders in 1996.
No premiere date has been announced for the NBC series.
