Report: Reed Morano is Warner Bros. first choice to direct 'SUPERGIRL'
Emmy-winner, Reed Morano is reportedly the top choice to direct Warner Bros "Supergirl" movie.
Multiple sources out of Geeks World Wide (formerly Omega Underground) report Emmy-winning director Reed Morano is currently the first choice to direct Warner Bros. and DC's next big comic book adaptation featuring Krypton’s other iconic superhero, Kara Zor-El a/k/a Supergirl.
Deadline first broke the news Warner Bros. and DC have plans to develop a feature film written by 22 Jump Street and The Cloverfield Paradox scribe, Oren Uziel. Yep, Oren Uziel. Needless to say, Morano's name provides a ray of sunshine behind a high profile project/character that hasn't been given the proper big screen treatment since Helen Slater's portrayal as Linda Lee/Kara Zor-El 34 years ago in TriStar Pictures Supergirl.
Morano won an Emmy and DGA for her work on season one of Hulu's award winning series The Handmaid’s Tale. In 2013, Morano became the youngest member of the American Society of Cinematographers, and one of 14 women in an organization of approximately 345 active members. Most recently, Morano directed Sundance's Special Jury Winner I Think We’re Alone Now starring Peter Dinklage and Elle Fanning. It's also worth noting Morano has spoken out urging TV manufacturers to disable the default “smooth motion” setting on new televisions. So yeah, it's hard not to be a fan of her work.
We'll cross our fingers and hope the sources at Geeks World Wide are legit. Stay tuned!
