HaydnSpurrell HaydnSpurrell Acclaimed Chinese director Lu Chuan, whose brought to the big screen international films such as Kekexili: Mountain Patrol and Chronicles of the Ghostly Tribe, has his next project.

The director will take the reins as well as produce an adaptation of River Town, from the memoir of New York Times best-selling author Peter Hessler. The script comes from Tristine Skyler. Jamie Gordon and Courtney Potts from Fugitive Films will also produce.

River Town is the story of an American Writer's journey to China for the long-awaited Chinese publication of his first book, which triggers 20 year-old memories of teaching English literature to Chinese college students at a time when the nation was on the brink of great change.

Currently, Chuan is in post-production on his first English-language film, documentary Born in China, for Disneynature.
