Robert Kirkman on 'Outcast,' Putting a Fresh Spin on Possession and Exorcism
With Outcast premiering this week, the general census seems to be that it has excelled The Walking Dead in the horror department. Though Kirkman was quick to reject the claim that The Walking Dead would be an intimidating comparison to the new series.
“I like working, it’s a lot of fun, but it was just time to do another,” Kirkman shared. “I wanted to put a fresh coat of paint on the exorcism and possession genre. It treats demonic possession as a solvable problem.”
He does admit that Outcast is "hard to write at night.
“If I’m writing scary scenes and I don’t get a little scared, then I’m doing something wrong,” he added.
“I was really curious about the mood of the show,” star Patrick Fugit said. “We keep on a fairly parallel overall journey, but we have a lot more tools at our disposal to tell a story.”
