Robert Kirkman Reveals a Change to the Ending He'd Initially Planned for 'The Walking Dead'
For a long time, Robert Kirkman has been on the record stating that he has an ending planned out for his apocalyptic drama comic series. During SDCC, he revealed that the plan changed quite some time ago.
"The end has changed," Kirkman said. "There was one version that would have had it ending as soon as everybody reached Alexandria."
According to that, then, the series would have ended way back at issue 69. We're now at issue 157, so it's safe to say that fans of both the show and comic can breathe a sigh of relief that never happened.
The series returns October 23. Had Kirkman cut things off back there, there would be no Negan, no pet tiger, and no season 7.
