'Rogue One' Reshoots Reportedly Included An Ending Overhaul
The reshoots conducted on Rogue One: A Star Wars Story were a topic of debate and concern when news sparked up over summer. Reports varied at the time, eventually simmering out and being mostly forgotten.
But some news seems to have come forward. Tom Gilroy was brought in to assist the reshoots by writing additional scenes as well as second unit director work. Reports now indicate that his role involved fixing the entirety of the ending.
THR reports that Gilroy is being paid $5 million for his work, which is more than the regular directors get paid for helming an entire production. His work on the film began in June, and a couple months later became integral to post production.
His work is reportedly extensive, and his assistance in reshoots extends to the ending itself. It's not long until we find out whether this all means a catastrophe or not, as the film opens on December 16. Fingers crossed that all is well with the latest Star Wars chapter.
