'Rogue One,' 'Suicide Squad,' 'Fantastic Beasts' Short-Listed for Visual Effects Oscar
The Academy has revealed the twenty films now in the running for the Best Visual Effects Oscar for this year, and there's a bunch of superhero pictures to make up the list.
All six of the year's superhero films have been picked out, as well as upcoming star vehicle Passengers. Rogue One: A Star Wars Story and Fantastic beasts and Where to Find Them are in the running, as well as Sully, Arrival, and Deepwater Horizon. Kubo and the Two Strings managed to make the list.
The remaining films on the shortlist include Alice Through the Looking Glass, The BFG, Batman v Superman, Captain America: Civil War, Deadpool, Doctor Strange, Independence Day: Resurgence, The Jungle Book, Miss Peregrine's Home for Peculiar Children, Star Trek Beyond, Warcraft, and X-Men: Apocalypse.
