Ron Howard to Direct 'The Girl Before' Adaptation
Deadline has reported that Ron Howard will take on an adaptation of an as-yet unreleased novel The Girl Before.
Authored by J.P. Delaney, the book follows a woman who rents a dream house only to discover the previous tenant met a mysterious end, and that she could be next.
The description sounds a little corny to say the least, but there's plenty of buzz around the book even before it has hit shelves, so there might be more to it. It doesn't land in reader's laps until August next year, but Universal won the rights from a seemingly premature bidding war.
Maybe it's in the title? There have been breakout novels in recent years with Gone Girl, The Girl on the Train. Heck, The Hunger Games stars the girl on fire. Hopefully, for Universal at least, this proves to be a winner.
Ron Howard has been busy as of late. His high seas adventure In the Heart of the Sea is coming shortly, while next year will see the arrival of Inferno.
