Roughly a Third of 'Assassin's Creed' will take place in the Past
Assassin's Creed is, as expected, set to take some liberties with the property when it comes to the adaptation process.
Michael Fassbender stars at Callum Lynch, a new character for the film, and executive producer Pat Crowley has said that 65% of the film takes place in the present, while the remaining 35% takes place in 15th Century Spain.
This is automatically a shift in the established world of the games, which tend to spend the bulk of their time in historical settings. "There are certain things that we absolutely want to respect in the game," Michael Fassbender tells IGN.
"But we also want to bring new elements to the game. This isn't a video game that we're making. We're trying to make a cinematic experience, so there are new things that we have to introduce."
The film arrives in theaters December 21, 2016.
