Russell Crowe on Jor-El's Absence in 'Batman v Superman,' and Where he Thought the Franchise was Going
Russell Crowe played Kal-El's (Superman's) father in Man of Steel, but was absent from Batman v Superman. It wasn't a notable absence, given the large cast already in the film. Now Crowe has voiced where he thought the franchise was going, which leads to why he no longer fits into any Superman plans.
"Originally — I could be completely wrong — I think there was a number of Superman movies. But I think they made the decision to jump past those and go to the idea of Batman and Superman in the same film. So, no, I didn’t have any discussions about that at all."
A sequel for Man of Steel was announced not long before the film saw release, though that grew to include Batman in its plans the preceding month. While there is no Man of Steel 2 on DC's slate as yet, it leaves us to wonder what may have been had the studio let things unfold a little more organically.
