Ryan Gosling and Emma Stone Musical 'La La Land' Pushed to December Release, to Open Against Rogue One
Summit Entertainment has pushed its upcoming musical starring Ryan Gosling and Emma Stone from July 15 all the way back to December 2 this year.
It will open for a limited release before going wide on the 16th up against Will Smith-starrer Collateral Beauty, as well as Rogue One: A Star Wars Story. That shows plenty of confidence being given to the picture, but it also means fans dying to find out how well these two actors collaborate together will have to wait a good while longer.
What this means is that the film will enter the award season race, which is an interesting move. Musicals aren't common enough to be considered capable of making a splash on the circuit, however Les Miserables won the Golden Globe for Best Musical or Comedy Film. There's every chance this one could be a major competitor.
