Ryan Gosling to Play Neil Armstrong in 'La La Land' Director's 'First Man' Biopic
Damien Chazelle, who has seen a quick rise to fame with film's Whiplash and La La Land in just the past two years, has been attached to First Man for two years, and prior to that Clint Eastwood's name was alongside the project.
With La La Land apparently strengthening a director/actor bond, as tends to happen in the industry, Ryan Gosling has signed on to star in the Neil Armstrong biopic. The film is based off of First Man: A Life of Neil A. Armstrong, written by James Hansen. It will follow NASA's attempt to put astronauts on the moon and how Armstrong ended up making history.
Josh Singer co-wrote last year's Oscar-winning Spotlight, and he has signed to write the script. All of a sudden, there's some enormous talent on this thing. It's fascinating that it's taken this long to get a film about the first man to walk on the moon, and it's one of those biopics that deserves to happen.
In the meantime, you can see Chazelle and Gosling's La La Land in theaters now.
