Scarlett Johansson Developing a Zelda Fitzgerald Biopic to Challenge Jennifer Lawrence's
Recently, we learned that Jennifer Lawrence is headlining a biopic based on Zelda Fitzgerald, the wife of F. Scott Fitzgerald and a gifted author, painter and socialite who was driven made by the competitive nature of her and her husband's relationship.
Now, it seems Scarlett Johansson has her own, separate project based on the same woman in development. Zelda fought to define herself through her own work during a marriage that was as unstable as it was passionate. She was diagnosed with schizophrenia in 1930 and was in and out of the sanitarium until she died in the Highland Hospital fire in 1943.
Titled The Beautiful and the Damned, a callback to a famous F. Scott Fitzgerald novel, it will be a semi-fictionalised account of the relationship, and has backing from Millenium Films as well as the Fitzgerald estate.
