Sci-fi Short Film 'Miles' to get a Feature Film from Open Road and David S. Goyer
Lakeshore Entertainment and Open Road Films are partnering up to co-produce and finance sci-fi film Miles, based on the original short film by Oliver Daly.
The film is based on Daly's own original short film, which launched a bidding war last year. David S. Goyer won the rights along with his Phantom Four Films banner, and they then developed a script with Daly.
Miles is the tale of a teenage boy who encounters cutting edge military technology. Searching for a way out of his small hometown, Miles finds an escaped prototype of an advanced robot, which sparks the beginning of a friendship that sees the two on the end of a massive manhunt that puts he and his family in danger.
“’Miles’ is a wildly innovative project with a top notch filmmaking team behind it. We are thrilled to partner with Lakeshore, David Goyer and everyone at Phantom Four to bring this movie to audiences around the country,” stated Open Road Films CEO, Tom Ortenberg.
Casting is currently underway with principal photography kicking off in late summer. We can anticipate a 2017 release.
