Scorsese's Short Film 'The Audition' Not Screening at Venice Film Festival After All
In what must be a blow for the festival, Martin Scorsese's new short film with Leonardo DiCaprio and Robert De Niro won't be ready for the 72th Venice Film Festival, which runs from September 2 to 12.
The short film, The Audition, is written by Wolf of Wall Street writer Terence Winter. It was made as a promotional piece for the $2.3 billion Asian Macau Studio City resort and the Manila City of Dreams resorts and casinos, but the festival claims it's not a commercial. It reportedly has De Niro and DiCaprio competing for a role in an upcoming film, with Brad Pitt coming by as well.
"We have just been informed by the production that due to unexpected technical problems the film could not be here in time." the festival told THR, as the film remains in postproduction.
