Season 3 Premiere Title Revealed by 'The Flash' Star Grant Gustin
Grant Gustin has revealed the premiere title for The Flash's third season, and it's sure to click with DC comic book fans.
Via Twitter, Gustin revealed that he has read the script and, after receiving permission from producer Greg Berlanti, revealed the title: Flashpoint.
Written by Geoff Johns, Flashpoint is the title of a major DC Comics event series written in 2010 in which The Flash saves his mother's life at the cost of a changed world in which Aquaman and Wonder Woman are at war, and Bruce Wayne is dead while his father takes up the mantle of Batman (albeit a violent, blood-thirsty one who has no problem killing his enemies; think Batman v Superman).
Barry Allen's efforts to undo his actions and restore the timeline lead to the rebooted comic book universe (which has just again been rebooted). Fans have theorised that season 3 may be inspired by Flashpoint given that season 2 ends with Barry traveling back to prevent his mother's death.
A four-way crossover week has been heavily teased for the CW's major superhero titles, and should season 3 of The Flash take place in an alternate universe, this seems a likely battleground with plenty of possibilities.
