Sega's "Rent a Hero" Is Getting a Movie Adaptation
Rent a Hero, the popular Sega video game, is getting a big-screen adaptation. Tomoya Suzuki will collaborate with filmmakers Steve Pink and Jeff Morris on the film adaptation. Suzuki is the president and CEO of Stories International (the joint venture and production arm of Sega Group and Hakuhodo DY Group).
Pink (Hot Tub Time Machine, High Fidelity, Grosse Pointe Blank) and Morris (You Did What?) will co-write the script with Pink set to direct.
Rent a Hero follows "a slacker genius who joins a high-tech start-up that is pitched as a company to improve people’s lives but is nothing as it seems. When company insiders plan to weaponize the technology, the slacker and his fellow Rent-a-Heroes must band together to stop them."
