If you're not one of the 88 million people who follows Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson's Instagram (yes, guilty as charged), then you probably missed out on recent posts about his next film based on a 1986 video game classic Rampage.

Whether or not you follow The Rock's social media happenings, you know he's firmly positioned himself as the people's champ among Hollywood's leading males. This year alone, Johnson delivered The Fate of The Furious, Baywatch and recently wrapped production on Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle. Prior to starting production on his next two films (Skyscraper and Jungle Cruise), The Rock took to Instagram teasing a photo of his Rampage character Primatologist Davis Okoye, who along with his 'partners in crime' Naomie Harris (Moonlight), the discredited genetic engineer and a very un-Negan looking government agent referred to as "the cowboy," played by Jeffery Dean Morgan (Watchmen) look poised to take on some gigantic monsters.

Of course The Rock didn't stop there. His second post divulged a few plot details based on the 1986 arcade game that put gamers in control of gigantic monsters who were formerly human. Only this adaptation will transform The Rock's onscreen 'bestie' named "George," into King Kong-like gigantic gorilla along with Lizzie, a Godzilla-like dinosaur/lizard, and Ralph, a giant werewolf into raging monsters based on a genetic mutation gone awry.

Check out the official plot synopsis:

Primatologist Davis Okoye (Johnson), a man who keeps people at a distance, shares an unshakable bond with George, the extraordinarily intelligent, silverback gorilla who has been in his care since birth. But a rogue genetic experiment gone awry transforms this gentle ape into a raging monster. To make matters worse, it’s soon discovered there are other similarly altered alpha predators. As these newly created monsters tear across North America, destroying everything in their path, Okoye teams with a discredited genetic engineer to secure an antidote, fighting his way through an ever-changing battlefield, not only to halt a global catastrophe but to save the fearsome creature that was once his friend.

Rampage reunites Dwayne Johnson with San Andreas director, Brad Peyton, and co-stars , Malin Akerman (Billions), Jake Lacy (Girls), and Joe Manganiello (Magic Mike). WETA Digital, the same team behind Lord of the Rings and Avatar, will be responsible for bringing Rampage's giant genetically altered alpha predators to life.

Excited for Rampage? It's scheduled for release on April 20, 2018 in 3D and IMAX by New Line Cinema
