'Sons of Anarchy' Spin-Off Gets an Official Title, Enters Script Development at FX
FX Networks has officially begun development on a Sons of Anarchy spin-off, which has been given the official title of Mayans MC, co-created by Sons creator Kurt Sutter and Elgin James.
James will write the pilot, which is intended as a dark, visceral family drama that takes a new look at the 1% outlaw, through the lens of the Latino angle as opposed to its parent series.
"I wanted to find a strong, unique Latino voice," Sutter said of James. "Because I didn't think a white guy from Jersey should be writing about Latin culture and traditions. Elgin is that voice."
The Mayans played a recurring role in Sons of Anarchy, which ran for seven seasons and was FX's highest-rated drama ever.
